About Us
The Contemporary Club of Albemarle is a lecture luncheon club founded in 1988 to preserve and promote a progressive interest in literature, art, and contemporary thought. The club is operated for the members' pleasure and intellectual enrichment.
Programs are intended to inform rather than advocate, bringing together women of shared interest from various sections of the community who might not otherwise become acquainted.
The club has approximately 200 women members who meet monthly between October and May.
Statement of Intent
As we begin our fourth decade, the Contemporary Club commits to intentionally undertaking and sustaining activities to increase diversity in membership, leadership, program topics, and speakers. By so doing, we will more fully reflect, serve, and benefit from the many talents and life experiences of women in our community and thereby strengthen our club.
